Prosect poetry Group Discussion & Open Mic

Join us inside the Tiny Theatre for Prosect Poetry, our newest addition to the Auckland poetry scene. It’s going to be an open, accessible space to discuss various aspects of poetry, where everyone can learn about and improve their craft – from the most experience poets, to those just starting out.

For our first Prosect Poetry session, we’ll be having a group discussion about a well known poem, talking about what works about it, what doesn’t work about it, and what it can teach us to improve our own writing. This will include time to create or improve your own poetry, using whatever the group learned from the feature poem.

After the ‘prosecting’ we’ll have our usual open mic, where we’ll encourage everyone to perform the poems they created or improved earlier in the night.

If the idea of attending a group discussion seems intimidating, don’t worry. We’ve made this discussion to be open and welcoming to everyone, new poets, experienced poets, and non-poets alike.

The group discussion starts at 7pm, open mic starts at 8pm.
